SKIN TYPES

About skin types

Do you know your skin type? In cosmetics, a lot of work is done with different skin looks and types in order to offer the right products for them.

We would like to help you with our skin type classification so that you can judge for yourself which skin type is yours and which products are suitable for you.

Important: There are smooth transitions between the skin types, and moreover, these can change again and again. It is therefore completely normal that the skin tends to become drier and less hydrated over the course of a lifetime. On the other hand, the excessive production of sebum is often the focus of attention in youth . There are also short-term fluctuations in the skin appearance which are associated with physical and mental conditions or simply with the seasons.

In the facial care section of the detailed view of the articles you will find a recommendation for which skin types this product is particularly suitable. Often products are suitable for more than just one skin type. Ultimately, the decisive factor in choosing your cosmetics is your subjective perception. You should feel comfortable with the things that you allow yourself and your skin to feel.

Normal skin

Normal skin has fine pores, is well supplied with blood, has a rosy complexion and is evenly transparent. Fat and moisture content are balanced and it radiates a velvety shine. This is the ideal condition of the skin and usually causes no problems. Care products for this skin type aim to maintain this condition and are also suitable as all-purpose creams for the whole family.

Dry skin

Dry skin is characterized by a lack of oil and/or moisture and usually reacts with feelings of tension after washing. It appears thin, scaly, rough, uneven and blotchy with small tears and individual inflamed areas. As the skin barrier is damaged, the skin often reacts sensitively to external irritations. Skin care products for dry skin contain a lot of moisture and often also fat and stimulate the skin's moisture-binding capacity.

Oily, impure skin

Oily skin is characterized by an overproduction of the sebaceous glands, the skin is large-pored and covered with an oily shine. The complexion often appears pale, yellowish, poorly supplied with blood and is of irregular transparency. Furthermore, oily skin is often accompanied by excessive hornification of the sebaceous glands and consequently pimples and blackheads. If the skin lacks additional moisture, it is called oily-dry skin. Care products for oily skin reduce the sebum production and counteract keratinization.

combination skin
Combination skin is characterized by a mixture of drier skin areas (usually the cheek and eye area) and more oily (usually the so-called T-zone, i.e. forehead, nose, chin). It is similar to normal skin and causes few problems except for occasional impurities. Appropriate skin care products have a balancing effect and usually both mattifying and moisturizing.

Sensitive skin

In principle, all skin types can react sensitively to stimuli such as weather, cosmetic ingredients, spicy food, etc. Redness, feelings of tension, itching, burning, dryness, rashes or pimples then occur. Often people with skin diseases such as neurodermatitis, psoriasis or rosacea also react particularly sensitively and therefore need dermatologically oriented care. Care for sensitive skin therefore contains only a minimum of selected ingredients so that the skin is not exposed to renewed irritation and can recover.

Mature skin

With increasing age, the skin loses its elasticity and resilience, it generally becomes thinner, drier and wrinkles become visible. Due to the slowed cell division, the skin regenerates more slowly and tends to have pigment spots. Care products for mature skin are particularly rich, reduce fine lines, stimulate the cell renewal of the skin again and protect the skin from harmful environmental influences (e.g. through antioxidants).
