From desert tree to men's grooming
The story of neemen begins not in a cosmetics laboratory but in the desert. Since 2012, Dr Klaus-Peter Radtke has been reforesting parts of Mauritania with the hardy neem tree, initially as a non-profit reforestation project.
The neem tree is a true survivor: it needs little water and thrives even in hot, dry conditions. Its leaves, seeds and bark hold numerous bioactive plant substances. From this observation came the idea of combining nature conservation with skincare.
In 2019, Katharina Jahrling, who comes from the cosmetics industry, founded the brand neemen in Hamburg together with the team, an uncomplicated, natural care line for men based on neem.
Three components from nature
The name Treemune combines Tree and immune. According to the brand, the system is designed to carry the neem tree's resilience over to the skin. It rests on three building blocks.
The core: extract from the neem tree, long valued in India and parts of Africa. According to the brand, it forms the basis of every product.
