The Brand
The Berlin label that reinvented make-up
Und Gretel was born in Berlin in 2014, founded by two women who started out as neighbours and ended up as entrepreneurs: Christina Roth, an international make-up artist working in fashion, film and advertising, and Stephanie Dettmann, a marketing expert who had worked at TBWA and Jung von Matt. The starting point was a paradox: as a professional make-up artist, Christina Roth searched for natural products that could also meet the highest demands of her profession, and found none. So she developed them herself.
What followed made cosmetics history: even before the official market launch, Und Gretel was awarded first prize at the Paris beauty trade fair “Beyond Beauty” with the Beauty Challenger Award 2014, in the make-up category, not the natural cosmetics category. A signal that said everything: this brand competes in both worlds simultaneously, and wins in both.

Philosophy & Certification
NO BAD STUFF, a stance, not a promise
Und Gretel uses exclusively natural ingredients that are grown ethically and sustainably. Synthetic colour and fragrance agents, microplastics, mineral oils, parabens, silicones and paraffins are categorically excluded. All pigments are sourced from nature, and tested strictly without animal testing. Transparency about ingredients is the brand’s highest principle.
All Und Gretel products carry BDIH certification, one of the strictest beauty seals, that rigorously specifies: NO BAD STUFF. Additionally, products are certified to COSMOS Standard and COSMOS Organic. Packaging is recyclable and used only where absolutely necessary.

The Und Gretel Concept, Step by Step
Und Gretel follows a deliberately streamlined concept: fewer, highly effective products that combine perfectly thanks to their natural pigments. The order of application matters, each step prepares the skin for the next and maximises the result. All products are dermatologically tested and suitable for all skin types.
What makes Und Gretel unique: all natural pigments across the entire range are compatible with each other. Lipsticks can be used as blush, eyeshadows can be blended with lipsticks to create new shades. This is not a trick, it is the direct result of consistently using natural pigments throughout the range.
REINE is a skin-nourishing cleansing oil made from rosehip and lavender oil with calming extracts of calendula and rosemary. It effectively binds and absorbs make-up, sebum and environmental residue, and removes eye make-up gently and residue-free. Gluten-free and dermatologically tested, suitable for all skin types. REINE works as the first step in double cleansing or as a stand-alone cleanser.
Und Gretel recommends building the make-up routine on a well-cared-for skin base. The ZART face cream is a lightweight, purely plant-based moisturiser that absorbs immediately and leaves a silky feeling with a velvety-matte finish, ideal as a base for all skin types. The PUR Multi-Hyaluron Serum can be applied underneath as a concentrated moisture boost. ZART seals the serum optimally.
Skincare base before make-upLIETH is the award-winning Und Gretel foundation, it lets the skin shine through the make-up rather than covering it. Nourishing ingredients such as olive and rosehip oil simultaneously care for the complexion. The MILTE Foundation Stick is a creamy multi-talent: usable as a foundation, as blush on the cheeks or as a targeted colour accent. Both products are applied evenly to face, neck and décolleté with fingers or a brush.
TUNKAL is the Und Gretel concealer with light-reflecting pigments, avocado oil and chamomile extract, the lightly tinted texture gives a fresh, wide-awake look. ILGE is a transparent setting powder with a soft-focus effect that sets the complexion for lasting wear and optically smooths fine pores. TUNKAL is dabbed precisely on areas needing more coverage. ILGE is then brushed across the entire complexion as a finishing step.
As neededIMBE is best applied with the fingers: working it in lightly makes the texture even silkier, and colours can be blended directly on the lid to create new shades and a 3D depth effect. Und Gretel recommends using IMBE as a highlighter on the cheekbones or as a lip accent, this is the Mix & Match principle in practice. As the final step in eye make-up, WINT mascara gives lashes volume, length and definition.
