In Spanish, Palo Santo (Bursera Graveolens) means "sacred tree". It grows abundantly in South America and has been used for centuries by medicine men in ritual prayers, ceremonies and treatments. It has metaphysical and purifying properties to remove negative energy and the first mentions date back to the Inca tribes. The peoples of South America believe that purification with the smoke of Palo Santo promotes a good life, brings good luck and attracts life opportunities.
