The essential oil of yuzu lemon (bot. Citrus junos) is a multifaceted fragrance rarity. It smells wonderfully fruity, fresh, tangy, tart with a delicate bitter note and immediately brings a smile to the face. The essential oil has a mood-lifting effect, exhilarates and provides lightness. It has an invigorating and activating effect on the skin. As an ingredient of a body oil, it stimulates the skin's metabolism in blood circulation-promoting massages.

The yuzu lemon is harvested between October and December, the green and yellow yuzu is used. The fruits are round, with thick, rather uneven skin and contain many seeds. The essential oil is extracted from the skin of the yuzu by cold pressing. As an extraordinary essential oil it enriches the PRIMAVERA citrus oil range with another fragrance speciality. We source the essential oil from Japan. The fruits come from small orchards around Mount Seppiko in the Hyogo region, which are cultivated in a mixed culture. The yuzu trees dominate the landscape there and would soon produce more leaves and less fruit if left to run wild. By procuring the valuable yuzu oil from there, we are therefore supporting landscape conservation and the preservation of the cultural landscape.

In Japan, the fruit is traditionally used for strengthening health and beauty rituals. There it is regarded as a "happiness maker". There, in public baths (Onsen) or also at home at the turn of the year, bathing rituals with the fruit in warm water are performed. The ritual is said to help in letting go of the "old", purify, protect against colds and bring good luck for the new year.

Fun Facts: The peel is used in Asian countries in spice pastes to enhance dishes and has now made its way into gourmet restaurants worldwide, where the special flavor nuance is very popular. The juice has been discovered as a "superfood" because it contains several times more vitamin C than lemon juice.
