Cananga odorata

Ylang-ylang is a tropical tree with intensely fragrant whitish-yellow flowers that is cultivated in Madagascar, Reunion and the Comoros. In its natural habitat, the ylang-ylang tree grows to a height of 10 - 30 metres, but in cultivation it is pruned to a height of 2-3 metres, and the distillation of the flowers takes up to 20 hours, the finest quality is released after 2-3 hours and is known as ylang extra supérieur. Ylang-ylang is an important raw material for perfumery.
